Hippo birdy to me…

Hippo birdy to me,
Hippo birdy to me,
Hippo birdy dear Blogless Anna,
Hippo birdy to me.
This day one year ago, I claimed my little spot in blogland… Blogless Anna was created, I proudly shared my mustard Lily Linen Dress and this amazing ride began.
It’s funny to look back and see that my first photo was a headless one. In the last 12 months I believe I’ve revealed not only my head, but more about my sewing, my family, my life and me!
I have a duplicate copy of the recently-released Sweet Dress Book (in English) by Yoshiko Tsukiori (comprehensive book review here) and I’d like to give you all the chance to win it.
Hhhmmmm a duplicate copy… I wonder how that happened? Could I have forgotten that I pre-ordered a copy online and then purchased one in great excitement at a local bookstore? Ah… yes. But my forgetfulness is your fortune. If you’d like a chance to win my extra copy of the Sweet Dress Book, just leave a comment below. I’m happy to post worldwide. Giveaway closes on Sunday 29th September at 5pm EST. I’ll let you all know early next week who will be adding this great book to their sewing library.
I would love 2 win this book!!!! thanks in advance, ; )
Best of luck.
Hi Anna
I have enjoyed following your blog over the past year – your sewing is very inspiring and I dream of the day when children and time permits me to do more!
Are there not other birthday celebrations coming up? If so have a great day!
Should catch up again soon, the girls get along so well!
Ainsley
You’ve got a good memory my friend… Yes, it’s my birthday this week too (which makes the blog anniversary easy to remember). I’m up for a play date, I’ll email you with some options.
Hippo Birdy dear Blogless Anna! Thank you so much for sharing your sewing and everyday life with us all – I know I enjoy every post and reading your musings as you inspire; please, keep them rolling 😉
Thanks for the birthday wishes and kind words. I’m feeling very bless to have some many lovely and supportive readers. Birthdays are fun!
Hippo Birdy, Two Ewe. I just discovered your blog a couple of weeks ago and am hooked. Thanks for all you do.
That’s right, I forgot the two ewe… This ditty was on one of my birthday cards as a teenager (read here a long, long, long time ago) and it really tickles my fancy! Thanks for your kind words.
Has it really been a year already??? Sheesh!!! I would never have guessed. But I’m glad you took the leap into blogland, it’s been grand. Here’s to all the years to come!
Thanks Mel. The year and the 105 posts have just flown by…
Happy blog birthday! I too am glad you joined us in blog land – I love seeing what you make.
Thanks Christy. The feeling is mutual although you probably don’t know as my blogpost comments just disappear into thin air (big sigh!).
Ooh I do like a Japanese sewing book. Happy blogland first birthday and hoping for many more.
Thanks Anna
Happy Blog Birthday and I hope that there are many more to come! I discovered your blog a few months ago and I’ve been enjoying reading it every time you’ve made a new post.
Thanks for the lovely feedback Alicia.
Hippo birdy! So glad that you make the leap into blogging and not just reading. It’s been a terrific year so far and I’m sure that there will be more fun to come!
I’m glad too. Thanks for all your inspiration and support. You help make that leap much easier.
Hippo blog birdy!! I am glad you took the leap into blogland. You’ve meet and made friends with so many amazing people! L x
I feel so blessed to have a bunch of virtual and real life sewing friends.
Hippo Birdy? I think I’m missing a reference? A Japanese sewing book would be fun! Thanks for sharing!
A similar version of this ditty (I think it was “hippo birdy two ewe”), was on one of my birthday cards as a teenager (read here a long, long, long time ago) and it really tickled my fancy, so I thought I’d duplicate. That’s the quirky in me (sorry!).
Congrats on 1st blog b’day- I’ve only been following you for a few months but had no idea you were so new to the game
Thanks Megan. Fingers crossed the book will be yours 🙂
Congrats on your first year! I’m glad I’m not the only one who does this; I have to keep a list of patterns I have ordered so reduce duplication. Thanks for the chance to win this book; I love Japanese patterns too.
Thanks for fessing up Ingrid, it makes me feel human. I wish I could give a book to everyone!
Hi Anna, I really enjoy reading your blog and admire your style. I was just thinking the other day how I really need to get that book and was excited to hear it comes in western sizing. Yay!
Thanks for your kind words Michelle. I’ve been pouring over this book and I think the top on the cover (the one with the tie back) is the first thing I’ll tackle when I get a chance to do some selfish sewing.
Happy Blog Birthday (no longer) Blogless Anna.
I love the book but don’t put me in the draw, I’m blessed enough with your friendship & monkey fabric 😉
I feel bless too Lizzy. I hope that drunkard monkey is behaving itself…
Happy blog birthday! How lucky I am to have a bloggy and real-lifey friend in you. xx
Thanks Rachel, the feeling is very mutual 🙂
Happy blogaversary, thanks for writing such an enjoyable blog.
I would love to win the book.
Thanks Ronniie. Fingers crossed your name is the one that comes out of the hat!
Wow, only a year? You are a very interesting and regular read for me. Thanks for all your efforts!
One a year of blogging, but probably 18mth of lurking (ie. reading) and being inspired by so many other sewists. Thanks for your kind words Emily.
Aw, Happy 1st blog birthday to you!! Mine is coming up in December. And, if you are at all embarrassed about buying two copies of the same book, don’t be. I have done this THREE times with THREE separate books (or sewing magazines, same issue). It’s astounding isn’t it? However, I do not have even one copy of this book and would love to win it so please throw my name into the hat.
Thanks for fessing up on the duplicate book buying. It makes me feel so much better 🙂 You name has been hatted. Fingers crossed…
I’m glad you decided to write a blog back then, as I love reading your blog …
Happy birthday!!! And here’s to many more …
I’ve been wanting to get this book but never get the chance, so thanks for the chance to win …
Thanks Melanie. I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy with all this lovely feedback. I wish I could give a copy of the book to everyone.
Happy blog b’day ! So inspiring for us. Thanks for this giveaway, I am so fond of these japanese books. this one is missing in my library !! (hello from Paris)
Hello Aude. I’m hoping to be in Paris around this time next year, but if you win, I’ll post the book and not make you wait for me to hand deliver it to you. Thanks for your kind words, they mean a lot to me.
Congratulations! I’m glad you mentioned the headless shot. That made me laugh because I haven’t been brave enough to even post a headless photo of me on my blog yet! I’ve really enjoyed reading about your sewing adventures, especially the post about finding your personal style. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Miss Adelaide. Is now the time to confess that the only reason it was a headless shot was that the photo was the best one of the dress but I had this terrible expression on my face. My solution – cropping.
Oh, I’d never say no to a Japanese pattern or two! And Hippo Birdy, indeed. It’s fun great fun following along – I always rush to read your posts when they pop up in my bloglovin’ feed! x
And I rush to read yours too Laura. I’m hoping to be in Germany, Paris and London in September next year. If you’re in the London area by then (?) it would be fun to catch-up 🙂
It’s BEEN great fun…must proofread…x
Yayayayayayy! Happy one year of awesome to you, chica! Here is to many more of fab makes!
Thank-you fearless warrior. I have no idea why I wrote that, but it seems fitting… as you are The Boss.
Happy blog-land birthday!
Thanks Ruth
Oh what a lovely giveaway! Happy blogiversary 🙂
Thanks for the birthday wishes Kat. Fingers crossed that your name comes out of the hat.
happy blog birthday, I would love a Japanese sewing book, especially one in English!
you and Thornberry are my favourite sewing bloggers.
linda
Thanks Linda. I’m a BIG fan of Lara’s too and I’m grateful that as we live in the same city, we get to spend time talking about sewing while stroking bolts of fabric and/or eating yummy food.
Happy blog birthday. Having discovered the blog only recently, I’ve enjoyed reading about your adventures in sewing. Here’s to many more.
As I am totally addicted to sewing, I foresee many more adventures Debra. I’m so pleased you’re along for the ride…
Happy 1st blog birthday Anna. I really enjoy reading your posts and seeing what you’ve created, not only for yourself, but also your girls (I have 2 also). I have studied the Pattern Magic books, oohing and ahhing at the gorgeous clothes, but I’m completely terrified at the thought of actually making something from them. Sweet Dresses maybe more up my alley? I would love the opportunity to win your spare copy. Thanks for the birthday generosity.
I feel your terror Alice. Those pattern magic books are on my online bookstore ‘wish list’ but I’m just too frightened to even buy them. I wish I could give a copy of the Sweet Dresses book to everyone 🙂
Happy bloggy birthday! Would LOVE to benefit from your forgetful moment and win this book, it looks like fun.
That’s such a nice way to look at it Jo, a “forgetful moment”. Fingers crossed my forgetfulness is your good fortune 🙂
Very glad you became blogging blogless Anna, Hope you have a lovely celebration and very generous of you to share you ‘spare’ copy.
I’m glad too Karen. Some lovely readers have confessed to also having ‘spare’ copies, so I feel suitably human. Here’s hoping my spare copy makes it into your sewing library collection…
Happy blog Anniversary, Going to look through your back catalogue of blog posts (not in a weird stalker way though!) I’m enjoying how these blogs link us all together. Please put me into the hat for the book. I don’t have that one and it looks rather good.
Thanks Louise. Your name is in the hat!
Happy anniversary! And apparently birthday, too! That book looks awesome, thanks for the chance!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes Michelle.
How kind to celebrate your blog birthday with a giveaway! I have only laid eyes on a Japanese pattern book through an Amazon preview, so owning one would be a real treat.
Being my first blog birthday and all I felt it was appropriate to have my first give-a-way. These Japanese sewing books are a treat 🙂
Hippo birdy Anna! Just love seeing what you make (and how you put it together). Very inspiring! Here’s to many more years blogging.
Thanks formandreform. I hope I have many more years of blogging in me. I’m in a little sewing slump at the moment as I’m trying to focus on the children during the school holidays and to get some more sleep. But once the sewing starts again, I’m sure the blogging will follow.
Happy blogoversary! Thanks for sharing your makes with us. I look forward to seeing more 🙂
And thanks for the giveaway.
Thanks Joanne.
Happy blogaversary. A lovely giveaway 🙂
Thanks Kylie.
I loved that Lily dress – and spent ages thinking about buying the pattern. I still haven’t bought it, but that’s because I can’t believe it’s been a year. Hippo Birdie (loved that card too!) to you. And thanks for the giveaway.
I’ve had a sleeveless Lily cut out since January. I must sew it soon as the weather here is slowing getting warmer again. I can’t believe it’s been a year either 🙂
I’d love to try some of the dresses from this book. So many cute and versatile styles in one book. Please count me in for the giveaway.
Will do Josephine 🙂
Happy Blog-iversary to you! : ) I really enjoy reading your blog, and your posts always make me smile. I like your down-to-earth and cheerful attitude. Keep it up!
Happy Birthday! I enjoy reading your observations! thank you for the opportunity!
