Forgotten
I started this sewing blog way back in September 2012. It is a journal of the things that I make, and I try to keep the posts in chronological order. But this post is not!
I sewed my second StyleArc Verona Woven Top last August. You may remember the silly dancing reel on Instagram with my Sewjourn buddies?
Sharon took these photos of me at the end of September last year… and then somehow they were accidentally got forgotten. Not the top, it’s had lots of wear, but the blog post to share the make with you didn’t eventuate until now. Better late than never right?
My changes to the pattern were:
- I performed a 3/8″ (1cm) forward shoulder adjustment on a raglan sleeve. My method is outline in this blog post.
- I added 1″ (2.5cm) to the length of the top to accommodate my longish torso
- I cut the Back pattern piece on the fold without eliminating the seam allowance (therefore adding 2cm of width) which allowed me to skip the back neck split and still get the top over my generous head
- I used a slightly wider elastic in the sleeves (personal preference)
Like my first version, I’ve sewn this from a gorgeous Japanese printed linen from The Cloth Shop [sold out but available in an alternative colourway].
And my final word… I always feel fabulous when I wear this top. There is definitely something wonderful about those generous bias cut sleeves.
Pattern: StyleArc’s Verona Woven Top (purchased from work)
Size: 8
Fabric: Japanese linen [sold out] from The Cloth Shop
Alterations: I added 1″ (2.5cm) to the length of the top, added 2cm to the centre back seam and removed the back neck split, performed my usual 3/8″ (1cm) forward shoulder adjustment and used slightly wider elastic in the sleeve cuffs.
Outfit: Ichi Denim Skirt from Manteau Noir (several years ago), mustard wedges purchased from Siricco a decade ago, new-to-me vintage Georg Jensen necklace and beach glass earrings from Susan Ewington Jewellery (I collected the beach glass and Susan made a custom pair of earrings for me… how ace is that?!)
