Happy New Year!

Looking back, 2012 was the start of my serious selfish sewing, the start of this blog, and thanks to my lovely stylist K, the start of me being more aware of the clothes and styles that suit me.

I’ve also gained a lot of sewing confidence in the previous twelve months (although, there is still a lot to learn) and more and more I find myself looking to my sewing room to fill gaps in my wardrobe, rather than the shops.  I’ve not been to any RTW Christmas sales (yet!), and that’s a big change for this little sewist.

For me, 2013 will be a continuation of last year, but with more of a plan.  I’ve spent time over the last few days looking through my sewing book, patterns and fabrics and putting together some patterns that will be become, shock horror, outfits or pieces that coordinate with multiple items in my wardrobe.

That’s a long list.  Two things to note:

1. All fabric and patterns for these projects are from my stash.  Yah for stash busting!
2. The majority of these projects are for tops and dresses as I’m still scared of the fitting issues associated with my waist to hip ratio (or lack of!).

There will undoubtedly be some sewing from my girls, and other special little girls in my life.  Speaking of my girls, here is a photo taken a few days ago when we decided to be tourists in our own town and took a ride on Puffing Billy.  Although it’s summer-time here in Australia, it was cold in the mountains that day!

Machine Knitting

What about the machine knitting you ask?  Well, in a bold move, I’m going to knit as inspiration strikes.  How’s that for saying, it’s all still quite new and I’m not sure, but I’ll let you know as soon as I do!
