Botanical bliss
This is my third The Assembly Line Cuff Top (see V1 and v2) and it was a perfect match for this botanical print with a moody background. I feel in love with this linen the minute it arrived at work. Yes, yes, I may have gasped at it’s beauty!
It’s unusual to see a botanical print with a dark background that moves between french navy, deep purple and dark green.
This project was a lesson in buying two body lengths (1.4m) when making a Cuff Top in 137cm wide fabric. I only just eeeked this out of the meterage I purchased. Needless-to-say, cutting out was a little bit stressful. Thankfully, the sewing was straightforward.
As you can see from my smile below, I’m pretty happy with this one!
Pattern: The Assembly Line’s Cuff Top (purchased from work)
Size: Small
Fabric: 100% linen from The Cloth Shop
Alterations: TAL Round Neck Alteration, 3/8″ (1cm) forward shoulder adjustment, elimination of the CF and CB seams and I bound the neckline
Outfit: Jeans from Witchery several years ago, fluffy slides from Radical Yes, antique rose gold fob, rose gold paperclip chain necklace and beach glass earrings by Susan Ewington Jewellery
Photo Location: Flinders
Love the fabric and really like the rounder neckline.
I really like the rounder neckline option on this pattern. but it’s good to have choices for those that prefer a boat neck.
Great fabric, suits you well…..
Thanks Ria
Hi Anna, your top looks fabulous. I love these sorts of background colours, like some Japanese fabrics – they are bring out the primary design but are subtle and convey emotion!
This fabric definitely conveys emotion! You have summed it up perfectly.
Thanks for the post. Another very pretty top! You’re convincing me to sew a couple simple spring and summer tops.😊
Are those native iris? I’m not accustomed to garden iris being so tall with narrow leaves.
Would you believe that this is a little garden is a nature strip on the edge of a street?! I’m no gardener, but a quick google search tells me that they are indeed native irises. So pretty.
