Beautiful fabric, quick sew, simple pleasures
Last week when I was in city, I popped into Tessuti to browse the remnants table. Any excuse right? I was of course seduced by the new voiles on display.
I came home with 1.25 metres of Beach Life
and a lovely bright floral, which is a silk/cotton blend.
These fabrics didn’t even make it to the stash, not even into the wash pile, they were quickly double hemmed (my 1/4″ foot was in action again) and made into scarves.
Well, scarves for now… but maybe garments in the future. I like to keep my options open!
Fantastic finds! Love the Beach Life print in particular. Great colours on you. I was down in Melb for work recently and just ‘happened’ to walk into Clegs and then Tessuti… good thing I travelled light on the way down 😉
The beach is my favourite too. Can’t wait to see what you make with your Melbourne purchases.
And that way it is not stash, right? Very clever!
That’s exactly right 🙂
Oh lovely loooooooovely!!!!! I particularly WANTWANTWANT the beach print.
I TOTALLY understand. I couldn’t leave the shop without it. Restraint and I don’t get along when gorgeous voile is on offer. Let’s not even talk about Liberty Tana Lawn!
The beach print is gorgeous! *sigh* Great idea to use it as a scarf, it’ll be tricky to find the perfect pattern for such a lovely print
Both fabrics were a little sheer, so yes, difficult to find the right pattern for. I’m still a little scared of lining things (ridiculous I know!).
You could always interline or use french seams?
I do like the beach print but I prefer the other for some reason I can’t quite identify. It might be that it’s brighter, and my mind is turning to the need for colour with winter’s gloom around the corner.
It’s hard to think about winter at the moment in Melbourne. We’ve just home from a morning at the beach. There is only so much sun, sand and sunscreen I can face in one day!
LOL. I often say rowing season is heralded by the smell of sunscreen in the morning – but, yes, you’re quite right. By the end of the season, its charm has faded. It’s hot here, too, but I’m always aware that winter will arrive and I’ll be miserable, so the bright colours are always a treat.
Wow, what gorgeous fabrics! Good finds.
Thanks. I’m tempted to buy some more beach as I’m not ready to give up my scarf but would love to have a top made out of it.
Wow! You are so right, cutting up the beachscene would be criminal!
Simple pleasures indeed….
So true. I hope you enjoy your scarf as much as I’ve enjoyed mine!
