A versatile skirt
I’d like to introduce you all to my new navy ponti skirt. It’s so versatile! It can be a little bit French… and who doesn’t like looking a little bit French?
Or it can be paired with more earthly tones for a totally different look.
Versatility also comes from the pattern. The Ali Knit Skirt from StyleARC has a rouched front and a plain back.
I cut two back pieces to make a simple skirt. It was a quick sew. Not much more to say, so onto the project summary…
Pattern: StyleARC’s Ali Knit Skirt
Size: 10
Fabric: Navy ponti left-over from my Anita Ponti Pants
Alterations: Cut out two back pieces. Shortened the skirt length by 5 inches. Added 1 inch to each side of the back pattern piece at the waist.
That looks delightfully comfortable!
It is! I think it might be one of those work-horse pieces in my wardrobe.
That’s lovely, and versatile indeed! The fabric stretches enough to pull over the hips/tummy? I wonder if I could do it… might need a zip!
Thanks Jenny. The difference between my waist and hips measurement is only 6 inches, so it’s very easy for me to slip on and off. That being said, the pattern is designed for knit fabrics (and ponti does have a nice amount of stretch), so I’m sure those with more pear shaped or hour glass figures could manage to slip it on and off without zips.
I love this! Makes me wish I had ordered this one too…. Love the frenchy look!
Too kind. Looking forward to seeing your version. Lovely to see you today. Sewing catch-ups are the best!
Ohhhh, what a good quick sew! How are you going with your knitting machine?
Knitting machine still under the bed (bad Blogless Anna). A few urgent things to sew – I have no long sleeves tops in my wardrobe and there a special girl of mine turning 4 soon who’ll need a birthday dress or two. Excuses, excuses, excuses…. 🙂
A delicious piece of ‘cake’ ….to go with lots of different frostings!
I couldn’t have put it better myself 🙂 I think this skirt will be a real work horse!
Love, love, love it! Looking forward to seeing one with the ruched front and/or back too!
Thanks Lara. Unfortunately, the ruched skirt is a little down the ‘to do’ list. I’m having a bit of a fabric clean-out. I see some things with your name written all over them!
What can I say to that other than “bring it on”! Thank you!
