Spots and stripes

This is the tale of two tops.

The pattern is a modified Alexa T-Top.  The shoulders, neckline and sleeves are all original, but I added extra room in the side seams and altered the hemline for a more relaxed and flattering fit.  I’m all for clothes that ‘skim’ over my mummy tummy!

The spots are a 100% cotton.  I usually prefer knits with a little of lycra or elastane, but I couldn’t go past these random mustard spots.  I’m not sure how the fabric will wear, there are already a few tiny holes appearing in the seams, but I’m happily going to wear this top until it falls apart.

I was so excited when I finished the spotty version.  I had a ‘could this be my favourite knit top ever’ moment.  So, I headed to the stash, pulled out some precious stripey jersey (all stripes are precious, right?) and decided to get a little creative. BIG BIG BIG mistake.

The umpire vibe is strong and this top has been relegated to house wear.

Not my finest moment, but how about I distract you all before I quickly exit right, with some recently released free knit sewing patterns from Nosh.  Okay, the instructions might be in Finnish, but I’m sure those with a little experience of sewing knits will find them a breeze!
