I’ve made numerous Cupcake Dresses from Toni Coward’s Make It Perfect book, but this was my first time sewing the t-shirt part of the dress.

I specifically wanted a navy blue t-shirt to match the the chosen woven fabric (recently purchased from Rathdowne Fabrics) and I thought it would be easier making the said t-shirt rather than finding one in the shops.

For the t-shirt pattern I choose “Rosiland” from Ottobre 3/2009 (it’s the t-shirt on the front of the magazine) and shortened it to finish 3 inches below the armhole.   The navy cotton/lycra was from Darn Cheap Fabrics.  I must confess, I do love girls in blue!

The dress is another non-model project as it’s present for one of Miss A’s classmates.  I hope it fits!
