Hippy Hopscotch Dress
Testing, testing, testing…
Testing completed. Hypothesis proven… you can hopscotch in Oliver + S’s Hopscotch Dress!
The next item on my beach holidays sewing list is completed and Miss A is very happy. She agreed try her new dress on after school today (although bribery might have been involved to get these photos!) and she is still wearing it.
The Oliver + S patterns are a little more expensive than some, but I think they are a good investment. The designs are lovely, the patterns well drafted and they include clear, detailed instructions. I made a a size 5 with the length of the size 7 and it’s a perfect fit for my petite school girl.
The thing I love about this pattern (well, apart from the all the options – top, dress, short sleeve, long sleeve and a woven skirt) is cross-over neckline and the gathering under the yoke. My yoke seam is a little curvier than I might like, but there is always next time. And yes, there will be a next time. In fact, I think there will be MANY next times!
The sleeves and hems have been finished with a twin needle. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I love my twin needle.
Pattern: Hopscotch Dress by Oliver + S
Size: 5 with the length of the 7
Fabric: Cotton/lycra from Alannah Hill Outlet which has a real hippy vibe!
Alterations: None
Selfish sewing next. My Frocktails dress is calling me. Time to change my jersey needle for a silk one…
The dress looks wonderful, as does your gorgeous girl wearing it. Great fabric too! I bet that you might become just as addicted to that pattern as I am.
I can already see that this pattern and I are going to be inseparable. Lara, we might need to start a support group.
Very cute! It turned out beautifully. Think I’ll get this pattern for Little M.
You must! Little M would look super cute in one of these.
This is so cute, and so is your little girl! What a sweet dress!
And the best news… she put it on for photos and then didn’t take it off until bedtime!
So cute!! And she looks so much like you! 🙂
Genes are interesting… the older she gets, the more she looks like me, but when she was a baby she was Mr Blogless Anna thru and thru.
Great dress, you got the fit spot on. I love this pattern too.
I’m very pleased with the fit. The more I sew the better I get at choosing correct size and required alterations. I have several more Oliver + S patterns to try. So much to sew, so little time…
