Glory Days

I totally stole the name of this post from the name of the fabric… which of course is an ode to Bruce Springsteen song ‘Glory Days’.  And it’s another of those two for one posts… a Pattern Fantastique double – Glacial Tee/Skivvy (above) and an Aeolian Tee (below).

I purchased this fabric early this year with the thought of sewing a summer tee.  Time got away from me, as it often does, and by winter I was in need of some more long sleeve tees in my wardrobe.  My initial cut of fabric wouldn’t stretch to a long sleeve tee… and I tried, boy I tried.  In the end, I brought an extra sleeve length which allowed me to tetris two garments out of my combined meterage.  I love a happy ending!

The Glacial Tee/Skivvy is a great layering piece for me.  I don’t generally wear tight tops as an outer layer, so you can see I’m not 100% comfortable being photographed (see awkward pose above… and for that matter below too!).

I pride myself on neat knit necklines and this is one of my best!

The things that sets this pattern apart from the rest is it’s broader shoulder line and sculpted armhole.

I sewed a size 10, in the long length (it’s the middle of three lengths) with bracelet length sleeves.  I performed my usual forward shoulder adjustment and graded out the waist half a size.

My red wool version of this pattern from last year gets loads of wear.  I predict this one will too.
