Aeolian the third
Is it too early to call Pattern Fantistique’s Aeolian T-shirt Dress my pattern of 2015 in the second week of January? My two previous versions were a tee, and a linen dress.
From my third, and far from final, version of this pattern I dipped into my holiday stash again. These lovely European knits were purchased in Cologne (Germany) and I was actually overwhelmed with choice. I purchased the stripes and flowers with the idea of making singlet tops – layering items. Luckily, I purchased a little more than I needed in case there was a change in plan… which inevitably there always is!
Stripe matching isn’t my favourite, but worked well on this make. There is also a deep hem… a new love of mine.
Lara (Thornberry) has been giving this pattern a workout too… see here, here and here. I want all of her versions, as well as my own, plus the few more I have swimming around in my head! Smitten? Oh yes!
I don’t have much more to say… so I’ll leave you with some more photos.
Pattern: Pattern Fantastique’s Aeolian T-shirt Dress (knee length)
Size: M
Fabric: European knits purchased in Cologne (Germany)
Alterations: I created a super deep hem for an above the knee hemline
Accessories: My necklace was a birthday present & shoes were purchased at Siricco.
I love this pattern on you. It’s very much your style. I can’t imagine me in it… but that’s the beauty of sewing & expresssing individuality!
Individuality is a the great thing about sewing our own clothes. I also love that we can admire the clothes and styles of others without the need to replicate!
You have sold me on this pattern. Great international fabric shopping as well!
I can definitely see you in this pattern. It feels nice to use the international stash… Happy fabric shopping in Paris!
How wonderful is the necklace colour with the dress. Made for each other!
My girlfriends did a great job selecting this necklace for me and yes… it’s a perfect match for the dress. BTW the necklace came first!
I love the coordinating prints that you chose – perfect! That necklace works so well with your dress!
Pattern and colour mixing is an aspect of my sewing that I’m loving, but it slows me down a little as there are so many options… Another large stash problem?
Those prints coordinate very well and the dress is very much in keeping with your signature style.
I love a happy accident when fabrics go together and yes… this dress does feel very me.
Gah! It’s absolutely PERFECT! You have really hit your style and sewing stride lately. So proud!
LOL… I do feel like I’ve hit my stride. Wearing my Aeolian Tee today!
I love all your versions! I have never been a serial maker – once something is done, I often swear there will be another, but I never follow through. I’m not sure what it is… I think I have a butterfly mind and it’s always flitting elsewhere 🙂
I’m so into serial making. It’s almost like I want to find a pattern that suits and push it to it’s max… My next Aeolian will be a size smaller… I’m just curious to see how it changes to finished dress. Curious? Oh yes!
Looks great Anna. The bold fabrics work really well for you and nice eye for the mix-up.
Now you’ve got me singing “how deep is your hem” (to the tune of How Deep Is Your Love)
Now I’m singing too… 🙂
[…] Have you guess the pattern yet? My Aeolian obsession continues (for previous makes see here, here and here). […]
[…] Three (retired, too big) […]
