Another day another Briar
I was in Tessuti a few weeks ago and poor Brianna didn’t even get a chance to get this 100% wool knit off the roll and onto the remnant table before I pounced.
That fabric is now a Briar. The challenge for this make was the fabric. It easily frayed and, due to its thickness, it was near impossible to unpick. Ask me how I know? My girls and I watched the Sound of Music singalong (a special DVD feature that just plays the songs) yesterday afternoon while I unpicked my first attempt at top stitching the neckline. The singalong was over before all my stitching was out!
My first Briar is on high rotation and I expect this one will be too.
Pattern: Megan Nielsen’s Briar Sweater & T-shirt Sewing Pattern
Size: L
Fabric: 100% wool jumper/sweater weight knit brought as a 1.1m remnant from Tessuti.
Alterations: I omitted the pocket as my bust doesn’t need any more attention! The hem length is the halfway point between the cropped the full length version. The sleeves were shortened due to fabric restrictions.
It looks great, and very cozy too. I’ve made a couple of briars out of a fine merino and they’re great but a bit thin for winter. Must try to track down a heavier weight wool. And I love how you’ve accessorised your briar.
Thanks Jo. I do love to accessorise! And when I can’t decide which beads to wear, I just put them all on! Heading over to Bubala to check out your Briar’s now.
