Pears not pineapples

I know that pineapples are really hot right now but for me it’s all about the pear!
Charlie & Jack is a (non-current) seasonal liberty print that I purchased this year after admiring it from afar. A french navy background with fruits… oh yes please!
This is another version of Megan Nielson’s Eucalpyt Woven Tank Dress. As I used a non-matching binding (liberty of course), I made myself a dress out of a mere 1 metre (or 1.1 yards) of fabric. It’s worth noting that liberty is 137cm (54″) wide.
I’ve cut two more liberty Eucalpyt dresses that are destined to be nighties. The liberty prints were purchased near the start of my sewing career and these days are a little to ‘pretty’ for me. Making nighties seems the perfect solution to de-stashing and upgrading my sleep-wear.
Pattern: Megan Nielsen’s Eucalpyt Woven Tank Top & Dress
Size: Medium
Fabric: Charlie & Jack seasonal liberty print from Collections on Central Park
Alterations: I completed an FBA and a High Rounded Shoulder Adjustment (as outlined here)
Accessories: Beads from Elk & shoes purchased at Siricco.
Love your pear dress and excellect props. I realy like that liberty. Nighties are a great idea for too pretty liberty, Ive got two pieces also bought early on and now in need of a project!
Thanks Barbara. Including the still life painting and the pears was lots of fun.
I’m all for pears. Pineapples are getting so old right now… 🙂
You’re a friend for life…
I think you should rename your blog Liberty Anna!
LOL… You have an excellent point.
And personally… I’ve never liked hot pineapples lol
Lovely, as always!
Thanks 🙂
What a lovely dress! I can see why it’s becoming a staple, like the Scout. I need to check out this pattern!
That’s a great idea to use the “too pretty” Liberty for nighties!
It’s a great simple and easy to wear dress Melissa. As they say, sometimes the simple things in life are the best!
Booyah! #yearofthepear
You are on a string of wins lately, my dear!
Why thank-you inspiring lady. I’m sitting here in my calico Iris shorts trying to work out how to alter the front crotch that is grabbing me… and not in a good way. This winning streak might be coming to an end!
My Mother went thru a serious Colonial America phase in the 70’s- I’m still not over pewter and pineapples yet. I like your fabric better! But then, I always do!
LOL. I still gag at the thought of my Mum’s lentil lasagne… that was probably the early 80s! Scarred for life… oh yes!
Anna you really understand what works for you. I enjoy the way you combine fabrics and patterns, adding your own little tweaks.
Thanks Robyn. Happy New Year.
I see a trend! Enough of the pineapples already. Happy New Year!
LOL. Happy New Year to you too.
I’ve been drooling over that fabric for ages now. Your dress looks great – and love the cheeky photo of you eating your pear! x
This looks great!
