Josie in the hood
I first sewed StyleArc’s Josie Hoodie in a denim look loop-back french terry as a sample for The Cloth Shop in the middle of last year. The size 8, as seen on Instagram, felt a little bit oversized and too long for my frame.
I purchased more fabric, traced the size 6 and removed 2″ (5 cms) from the length, cut out my fabric and it remained unsewn for months.
When I did get sew this project up a few months ago, the size 6 was too snug, especially in the upper arms. So much so, I couldn’t comfortably fit a long sleeved top underneath it.
I should have stuck to the size 8 and shortened the pattern through the body. My old friend hindsight paid me a visit!
Don’t get my wrong, it’s a great pattern. I particularly love the hood, the shoulder darts, and the curved hemline. Plus a pattern with lots of facings always makes me happy!
The green drawstring is of course a very Anna touch!
I gave this too small hoodie to my petite mum… and a few weeks later it was politely returned. I then gifted it to a friend to pass onto a teenager who stays with her for respite care, but it didn’t fit the teenager as she was too tall. My friend then gave the hoodie to her son who happily wears it… and that’s good enough for me!

Can’t win them all lovely xx
Very true. 🙂
The case of the travelling handmade hoodie! I love this pattern though – even if the sizing out the packet was NQR for you – and great colour fabric on you too! I keep getting tempted by beautiful french terry fabrics… but have no idea what to do with them (besides more track pants!) so I think you’ve just inspired me 🙂
