Restash 2016 (Melbourne)
For those feeling a little overwhelmed or underwhelmed by the state of their stash, we invite you to join us at the inaugural Restash 2016 (Melbourne).
What is a Restash? It’s a fabric, notions, yarn and pattern swap… the chance for people to give-away items that they no longer have a need for (destash) and for fellow crafters to take home items that inspire (restash). This is a free event, but we do ask that you bring at least one item to swap.
DATE: Saturday July 9th
TIME: 2pm – 4pm
LOCATION: Fairfield Community Room (opposite Fairfield Library – 121 Station Street, Fairfield)
Bring your unwanted fabric, notions, yarn and patterns. Can you please bundle fabric and label with type (if known) and meterage (width and length).
Browse while chatting with fellow crafters. Sweet treats supplied, grab a take-away hot beverage from one of the many local cafes.
Rehome anything that takes your fancy. At the conclusion of the day, excess items will be donated to charity.
RSVP via my contacts form and use the word ‘restash’ in the subject line if you are planning on attending. We need to know approximate numbers to ensure we are appropriately covered for public liability insurance.
And those who want to make a day of it, there are several nearby sewing retailers…
Cutting Cloth – 282 Wingrove Street, Fairfield (walking distance from the Restash venue)
GJs Discount Fabric – 31 Steane Street, Fairfield
The Cloth Shop – 47 Lower Heidelberg Road, Ivanhoe
Darn Cheap Fabrics – 115 Burgundy Street, Heidelberg
This is a fantastic idea!! May see you there 🙂
Thanks for the feedback Melissa. It would be great if you could join us.
I’m in. So definitely IN! I have much to offer. 😝
Hooray!
Great idea, great date, great location, great organisation! I shall be there 😉
Thanks for your kind words and support Lara.
Definitely coming with my bag of fabric!
I have been putting aside a box of fabrics for the op shop, maybe I will have another sort out to add in some more and bring it along to ” Restash” instead!!!
It will be great to have you along Li Ann.
Thank you so much for co-ordinating this Anna 😉 I’m looking forward to swapping & open to suggestions on what is in my stash that someone might love in theirs 😉
Here’s hoping there are some perfect matches.
I would like to come along there will two of us, a wonderful idea. Will you be accepting knitting patterns and the odd ball (full weight) of yarn? I have never been to anything like this. Do you need the items before hand or do we arrive on the door step at the appointed time with our restash items? Thank you for this opportunity.
Hi Debra. I’m so pleased you (and your friend) can join us. Yes to the yarn and the knitting patterns (paper only, not electronic). That reminds me, I should look through my knitting patterns and do a cull… We will have tables set out so that people can bring there contributions when the doors open at 2pm and we can attempt to do some basic categorising (wovens, knits, notions, yarns, sewing pattern, knitting patterns etc.) This is our first time organising such an event, so there will be an element of going with the flow.
I think I’ll definitely be coming to this event – I might even be able to get my husband to help with the bundling of items because it will be leaving the house.
Hi Anna
I’d like to attend.
Cheers Teresa
This was a great event
Thanks so much
I so pleased you enjoyed it Karen. We are planning another one for the first quarter of 2017.
