A princess, a rock star and me!

When planning or sewing this top, not once did I think that I would blend in with my surrounds.

Well, I was totally wrong about that!  How cool is this Princess Leia meets David Bowie mural in Bunbury Street near the Footscray Community Art Centre?

Do you recognise the pattern?  It’s another version of StyleArc’s Courtney top… my third!

Like my last version, I…

  • raised the neckline by 3/8″ (1cm)
  • used bias binding as a facing for the neckline finish
  • adjusted the pattern for my 3/8″ (1cm) forward shoulders
  • shortened the top by 1″ (2.5cm)

I know that might sound like lots of changes, but for me it’s the difference between a top I’m going to love and wear and a top that will end up being re-homed.

I purchased this cotton seersucker from the Fabric Store in Melbourne a few years ago and I love both it’s colour and texture.  It’s also a bonus that it doesn’t need ironing!  Using stash fabric is something I hope to focus on a bit more this year.  Is that one of your 2018 goals too?
