We started stocking a selection of The Assembly Line patterns at work a few months ago.  Well, it would be rude of me not to make one and report back wouldn’t it?

This is the High Cuff Sweater which has a woven bodice and ribbing is used to finish the neckline, cuffs and hem band.

I’m not going to beat around the bush.  This make exceeded expectations.

I did a quick toile of the woven part of the bodice, and much to my surprise, it was really good.  The bust darts sat in the right place and I liked what I could see was going to be a cropped length.  The only thing I needed to change was the length of the arms.  I shortened them by 1.25″ (4cm) as I was not possessed with long limbs!

When I search the #TALHighCuffSweater on instagram I also noticed on a few other people’s makes that there was a little bit of pulling from the neckband.  I therefore lengthened the pattern piece by 3/4″ (2cm).  I also narrowed the neckband slightly (personal preference).  When taking these photos we were running out of light and I forgot to take some pics of the neckline without my cowl.  Sorry about that.

I particularly love the shaping on the back band.  I think it elevates this make.

I nearly forgot to tell you about the fabric.  Both the gingham linen and ribbing were from work (no surprises there!).  This pattern is rather economical on the fabric so check your scrap tub or your remnants before purchasing fabric for this project.

Well, I’m giving this pattern a glowing review and I can’t wait to sew more patterns from this range.  Have you sewed any patterns The Assembly Line patterns?  I have my eye on the oversized shirt next.
