A tee for every day of the week… Friday

A tee for every day of the week… Friday

Grainline’s Lark Tee (available in pdf and print) is loved far and wide, so I thought it would be remiss of me not to include it in this week’s line-up of tees.  The Lark Tee comes with four different necklines and sleeve lengths… that’s 16 different options!  I’ve sewed the scoop neck with full length sleeves, which I unnecessarily shortened by 1.5″ (4cm).

I always find it hard to decided what size to sew when making a new-to-me pattern.  I often over-lay patterns that I know fit me well to help me decide.  This was one of those instances, where the over-laying strategy back-fired.  I sewed the size down from my bust measurements and the result (not surprisingly!) is a top that’s too small.  Who needs to wave their arms around anyway?!

How cool is this fabric?  It’s a very recent purchase from Clear It and it has just the right amount of stretch for the Lark Tee.  The fabric was well price, so I brought enough for making two long sleeves tees.  I must have subconsciously known this one wasn’t going to work out!

I might revisit this pattern at a later stage, but for now the Union Street Tee has my full attention!

  • That fabric is great! And I get it- not all tee-shirts are created equal! 😉

    • Thanks for reading and commenting this week. And yes, you’re spot on, not all tees are created equal.

  • Shall be happy to take it off your hands if it fits! 😉

  • I was wondering if the Lark was going to feature in this series. I just made the Lark Tee recently too. Also made up the long sleeved scoop neck version, in, fabric from Clear It (snap).

Sorry to hear you don’t love it, but I’m guessing that anything after the Union is a step back? The Lark works for me – wonderfully. I sized up in the hips but that was it, this is my T TNT.

Just need a trouser TNT now.

    • If I put some work in, I expect this could be a TNT pattern for me too, but I’m too lazy for that when the Union Street Tee is working for me! Oh a TNT pants pattern… that’s things that dreams are made of!

  • It’s cute and while it’s”skinny” it doesn’t “look” too tight. Still, moving does matter.
While it takes forever to print and trace every t-shirt pattern it is a fun comparison to make.

    • It has been a good little project for me. There have been some wins and some losses, but those losses have almost all been re-homed. And the weird thing is, I’m not sure this experiment is quite finished yet. Could there another the second week of long sleeve tees?

  • Ah a cut out Lark is haunting my sewing room. Relived to read you like it. It’s just the right shade of pink and suits you well.
